I am writing to recommend Kenneth as a camp counselor. Beginning when I was in elementary school, I spent many weekends and school breaks in what I now call “Kenny’s Camp.” He took his daughter (my best friend), me, and a variety of people of all ages out to experience the world. Whether we went surfing, camping, or to the movies, there was always an emphasis on fun, safety, and life lessons.

Kenneth is physically and mentally adept at handling any number of situations, and at teaching others to do the same. For example, he taught my friend and I life skills such as how to set up our camping gear (tents and cooking equipment), how to change tires, how to cook healthy food, and how to have the time of our lives. While he always encouraged responsibility and group cohesion, Kenneth also supported the individual kids under his temporary care in being the best versions of themselves possible. As a camp counselor, he would bring this ability to foster both individual growth and community development.

Kenneth also has extensive experience navigating the wilderness in respectful ways. Safety was paramount, and Kenneth prepared extensively for backpacking trips by obtaining the necessary equipment and permits, as well as educating himself on the specifics of each place. In “Kenny’s Camp,” I visited Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Zion National Park, among others. Every time that we went camping, Kenneth taught the group to pick up trash throughout our stay at a particular campground. This kind of awareness is invaluable and can be brought even into urban contexts. Looking back, “Kenny’s Camp” was an extremely formative experience. It includes some of the most fun I’ve had in my life. Today, I can trace back my love for nature and healthy habits to Kenneth’s influence. I highly recommend him as a camp counselor. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email if you have any questions.
